Glossary
Flooring measurement types
Area. A flat surface measured in m². Carpet, vinyl, LVT, laminate, timber, tile floors.
Irregular Area. An area with a non-rectangular shape, traced as a polygon. Rooms with bays, alcoves, or odd geometry.
Lineal. A single run measured in metres. Skirting boards, beading, door bars, transition strips.
Multiple Trim Runs. Several lineal trim runs bundled into one component — useful when skirting wraps multiple rooms.
Curved Trim Run. A flowing or curved length of trim — beading around a bay window, curved feature walls.
Volume. Measured in m³. Screed, self-levelling compound, sub-floor fill.
Count. A whole-number tally — door bars as individual items, vents, fixings, threshold strips.
Fixed. A flat-fee line — delivery charges, lift fees, uplift of existing flooring.
Hours / Days. Time-based pricing for fitting crews or day-rate labor.
QuoteCore+ terms
Actual measurement. A real-world number entered directly. Waste still applies.
Component. A re-usable line you put in quotes. Has a name, measurement type, material price, labor price, and waste settings. See Components overview.
Customer quote. The version of the quote your customer sees, labelled Flooring Works. See customer quote editor.
Digital takeoff. Measuring directly off a digital floor plan. See Digital takeoff.
Extra. A line you want priced and recorded but kept separate from the main components. See Components vs Extras.
Manual quote. A quote built line-by-line for users who already have their measurements. See Manual Quote.
Pitch multiplier. Not applicable for flooring — floors are flat from plan view and laid flat. The setting exists in the app but isn't used here.
Plan measurement. A measurement taken from a plan or drawing. See Plan vs Actual.
Quote builder. The flow that builds a quote: Areas, Components, Extras, Review. See Quote builder.
Takeoff. The act of measuring a job — either digital (from a plan) or manual (on site or from your own notes).
Billing terms
Cap. A numeric limit on something your plan allows - quotes per month, components total, storage bytes, etc. Hitting a cap blocks new additions but never deletes existing data. See Tier limits.
Dunning. The process Stripe (and we) follow when a renewal payment fails: automatic card retries, status escalation through past_due - grace - suspended, with chances to recover by updating the card. See Billing.
Effective plan. What your account can actually use today. Usually the same as your purchased plan, but collapses to Starter during grace periods or after the trial ends.
Grace period. A 10-day window after a payment failure where you keep read access but can't create new quotes. See Billing.
Trial. A 14-day free taste of every feature, with tiny caps. One per account, ever. See Free trial.
