Upgrading and cancelling
Step-by-step for picking a plan, switching plans, and cancelling.
Upgrading and cancelling
All plan changes happen on Account > Billing. Stripe handles payment, card storage, and invoicing. You never enter card details into QuoteCore+ itself.
First-time subscribe (new account, no card on file)
- Open Account > Billing.
- In the Plans grid, find the tier you want and click Choose <plan> - or click View first to see the full feature list, then Purchase from inside the modal.
- You're sent to a Stripe-hosted checkout page on
checkout.stripe.com. - The page shows the launch discount applied:
- Subtotal: original price (e.g. $60.00)
- Discount: −$X.XX (launch discount, applied automatically)
- Total: launch price (e.g. $29.00/month)
- Enter card details and confirm. Stripe charges you immediately.
- You're redirected back to Account > Billing with a green "Subscription started" banner.
- Within a few seconds the current-plan card updates to your new tier and your status changes to active.
Switching between paid plans
If you already have an active subscription and want to move to a different paid tier:
- Open Account > Billing.
- Click Manage subscription on the current-plan card. You're sent to the Stripe customer portal.
- Click Update plan in the portal.
- Pick the new plan.
- The portal shows the proration - either a partial charge (if upgrading) or a credit applied to your next invoice (if downgrading).
- Confirm. You're back in QuoteCore+ within seconds with the new plan active.
Cancelling a paid subscription
- Open Account > Billing.
- Click Manage subscription on the current-plan card.
- In the portal, click Cancel subscription.
- Confirm. You're brought back to QuoteCore+.
After you cancel:
- The status badge on your current-plan card may change to reflect the wind-down.
- You keep paid features until the end of the current billing period - you've paid for it, you get to use it.
- At the period end, Stripe deletes the subscription and our webhook collapses your effective plan to Starter.
- Your data is never deleted on cancellation.
Reactivating a cancelled subscription
You can resubscribe any time:
- Before the period end (sub is winding down): use Manage subscription in the portal to "renew" or "resume". Stripe will remove the cancellation flag.
- After the period end (sub is fully gone): from Account > Billing, pick any paid plan and click Choose / Purchase. Stripe checkout opens. New subscription, same launch pricing.
Updating your card
In the portal:
- Click Manage subscription on the billing page.
- Click Update payment method.
- Add a new card. The old card stays on file until you delete it.
Cards are never stored in QuoteCore+. They live on Stripe's PCI-compliant infrastructure.
Downloading invoices
In the portal:
- Click Manage subscription on the billing page.
- Scroll to Billing history.
- Click any invoice to download it as a PDF.
Invoices are also emailed to the address on your Stripe customer record after each successful payment.
What if my payment fails?
Stripe automatically retries failed cards on a schedule (typically day 0, 3, 5, 7 after failure). During this time:
- Your status moves to
past_duethengrace. - You keep read access to everything.
- New mutations (creating quotes, sending orders) are blocked in
grace. - A banner on the billing page tells you what to do.
Update your card in the portal as soon as you can. The moment a payment succeeds, your status returns to active.
If 24 days pass with no successful payment, the subscription moves to suspended. After 75 days, pending_data_purge. See Billing for the full dunning timeline.
Disputes (chargebacks)
If you dispute a charge with your bank:
- We're notified automatically. A support ticket is opened on your account.
- Your subscription status becomes
disputedwhile the bank reviews. - When the dispute closes, the ticket auto-resolves and your status returns to normal (or, if the chargeback succeeded, your subscription is cancelled).
For non-dispute refund requests, contact support first.
Where to find it
